The work “Girl with book” was conceived by artist Ilario Fioravanti (Cesena 1922 – Savignano 2012) a sculptor, painter, artist and architect who is very close to the area, particularly Roncofreddo, Sogliano, Savignano and Cesena. In 2009 he received the recognition of Honorary Citizen of Sogliano al Rubicone. “Girl with Book” was previously located inside Palazzo Marini (seat of the City Hall) and was moved in 2024 to Via XX Settembre, “on the walls.” The relocation of the work takes place, in agreement with the Fioravanti family, with the idea of enhancing its value by placing it on the ancient city walls. This makes the enjoyment of the work accessible to a wider public and embellishes the historic city center, and also offers a breathtaking view of the hilly landscape, thus enriching the intrinsic artistic and poetic significance of the statue. Until August 11, it is possible to visit the widespread exhibition “Fioravanti’s Bestiary” in Sogliano’s Old Town. If you want to “immerse” yourself in his art, we recommend visiting “The House of the Hoopoe” in Sorrivoli, in life studio where Ilario created his works, now a museum.
