This church experienced an early phase as a castle chapel and became a parish church in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The present church, however, was built in 1908; the parish priests always resided there until the death of the last one in 1985. Monsignor Antonio Tani, Archbishop of Urbino from 1932 to 1953, celebrated his first Mass here.
