Surely the Malatestas, buying the lands from the sea shore to the Castle of Sogliano, also got their hands on Strigara. Certainly in 1305 they bought the castle, the last bulwark of defense on the border with the Dukes of the beechwood of Urbino, who had placed one of their prefects in the Montegelli opposite.
Of the parish there are vague memories: an early church was built under the castle, on the plain, where the courtiers and peasants also resided. Then probably a landslide took away the church and part of the dwellings. Thus we find that the castle chapel also became a parish church. When the history of the castle ended, the church remained, was enlarged, and is the same, recently renovated church that can still be seen today.
Behind the altar is a large painting of St. Peter.
