Internationally renowned poet, writer and screenwriter, born in Santarcangelo, he left his traces in several towns in Romagna.
Sogliano al Rubicone boasts the “Butterfly Fountain” located in Piazza Matteotti.
Conceived by Tonino Guerra and inaugurated in his presence in 2003, it is now one of the symbols of Sogliano. It is meant to represent a cry against war and a hymn to life. In a circular pool of black marble, a beautiful butterfly soars from a colorful mosaic carpet. “Above a carpet, arrived in Romagna from the African desert, some butterflies want to detach themselves and take flight,” is how Tonino Guerra describes it.
