The Don Onofri Museum, housed in the rectory of the Church of Santa Maria Riopetra, collects the historical and spiritual memory of local native Monsignor Teodoro Onofri (1909-1987). A composer, music director, educator and writer, Monsignor Onofri remained deeply attached to his native village throughout his life. On the premises of the small permanent exhibition are musical scores, letters, poems, paintings, and photographs that testify to his life.
One can also admire the original hand-decorated banner of Santa Maria Riopetra, which stands out among ancient missals, donation registers, and books. Prominent among the volumes is one with a dedication by Giacomo Puccini to Queen Elena of Montenegro.
The house-museum, established in 2009 on the occasion of the centenary of Msgr. Onofri’s birth, guides visitors on a journey of knowledge of the artist.
