TheSogliano Mines Association was formed in 2015 to promote historical research, study, and enhancement of existing documents, guided by the traces that the coal mines in the Sogliano area have left still intact but hidden by decades of oblivion. Thanks to the members, the Mining Exhibit was born; inside it one can admire a collection of minerals, period publications and manuscripts, a photographic collection from the last century, and an exhibition of miner’s lamps and tools used for digging. The research and analysis work of the Sogliano Mines Association, which continues with passion, was collected in the volume “L’Eco della Miniera,” edited by Marco Pellegrini and Pier Raffaele Palmi (founding members) and published in 2016. Currently, the association is conducting research on the sulfur mines of S. Maria Riopetra and Rontagnano.
