Since 2004, the Palace of Culture has housed the entire documentary heritage of Engineer Antonio Veggiani (1924-1996), a renowned scholar and researcher and native of Mercato Saraceno. The collection consists mainly of material of geological-historical interest concerning Romagna and Montefeltro, with particular reference to the territories in the valleys of the Savio, Uso and Rubicon rivers. The documentary section collects manuscripts and abstracts on archaeology, astronomy, and geological sciences as well as photographic material. The mineralogical section includes numerous fossil and mining artifacts, including a quartzite stone dated to about 1,250,000 years ago found in the Olduvai Gorge in Tanzania and a precious 625-gram amber ovoid recovered by Veggiani near Campaolo, a locality in Sogliano al Rubicone.
