Montegelli is known as “the village of ancient scents and flavors.” In spring you can walk among flowering fields and medicinal herbs, in autumn you can taste the delicious products of the area: savor, saba, mastlaz, elderberry, fig and tomato jams, cured according to ancient recipes, become the protagonists of the “Sagra del Savor” in the last week of September on the occasion of the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. The cozy village develops around the elegant Romanesque Pieve di S. Stefano in Murolo, inside which preserves works of considerable artistic value: a baptismal font in Istrian stone dating from the 16th century, a painting depicting the “Martyrdom of S. Stefano” from the 19th century and the Lourdes Grotto, dated 1930, a faithful reconstruction of the original. The clock tower is embellished with a valuable 15th-century bell. A short walk from the parish church is “The House of Memories” , the “panoramic” sports facility with tennis and soccer fields, an equipped playground and pic – nic area.
