Our territory is sprinkled with rare formations called gullies; these are sediments of ancient seabeds that can be seen from Bivio Montegelli, S. Maria Riopetra, Strigara, from Bagnolo to Sogliano to Montepetra.
Particularly in the stretch from Bivio Montegelli to the main town are the typical geomorphological formations caused by the erosion of runoff water in pelitic or marly clay soils with little vegetation cover.
One gully that can be crossed on foot, bike or horseback is the “Passo dei Meloni” from which there is a 360-degree panorama of the Adriatic Riviera and Apennines.
