An area of about 1,400 hectares near the Montetiffi locality in the Upper Uso Valley has been declared of considerable public interest and recognized as a Site of Community Interest. The area, due to its marginal geographic location and low anthropization, is preserved from disfiguring exploitation and offers one of the most intact natural features still intact due to its morphological and geological peculiarities. The best known naturalistic spot is the area of the Marmitte dei Giganti, crossed by the “Romanesque Bridge. The area is also appreciated for its remarkable fauna and vegetation mainly consisting of coppices of downy oak, manna ash, juniper, holm oak, field elm and shrubs and reeds, and is also characterized by settlements with relevant historical-architectural and environmental features such as the Borgo di Pietra dell’Uso and the Villas of Montetiffi and the historical settlement features present: Romanesque Bridge, Molino Tornani, Montetiffi Abbey and adjacent Rectory now housing the “Venanzio Reali Museum.”
