Pathway:

The Savor Path is 17.7 km long and has a difference in height of 618 meters; Approximate travel time: 5h 25m on foot.
Recommended parking in the Cemetery area and then leave and head towards the village of Montegelli where there is the ancient Parish Church of S. Stefano in Murulo which houses the reproduction of the grotto of Lourdes.

Along path 111 you cross the Rio Montegelli to arrive at an area that offers splendid views of the Uso valley and enter the Montetiffi naturalistic oasis.
You will meet “Parco dei Gelsi” and the Pieve di Pietra dell’Uso very dear to Tonino Guerra.
Continuing on, you arrive in Vernano where there is the ancient Church of San Benedetto, a religious monument dating back to the twelfth century. Near the church stand two tall downy oaks (Quercus pubescens), monumental works of nature. The tallest measures 17 meters with a trunk circumference of 3.9 meters. In Sogliano oaks are often associated with a church; this is certainly an expression of a model and not the result of some chance.
The tree, in fact, thanks to its shape, represents the means of communication between the three worlds: the deep abysses penetrated by the roots, the earthly surface and the infinite sky with its constellations, to which the branches tend.
From Vernano you climb slowly towards the locality of Meleto taking path 123a; Monte Meleto is one of the highest hills in the Sogliano area (600 m); there is an ancient oratory dedicated to S. Maria Assunta di Meleto and one of the few monuments dedicated to the memory of German soldiers. Leaving Monte Meleto behind, you cross a large forest from which the Fosso di Villa dell’Uso is born, a tributary of the Savio river.
Walking along path 123 you return to Montegelli through “Cà di Nuccio” and “le Ville”, small agglomerations of houses surrounded by greenery and breathtaking views.
