The sculpture “Woman milking the goat” was conceived by the master Ilario Fioravanti (Cesena 1922 – Savignano 2012) sculptor, painter, artist and architect very close to the territory in particular to Roncofreddo, Sogliano, Savignano and Cesena. In 2009 he received the recognition of Honorary Citizen of Sogliano al Rubicone.
The work represents an artistic and powerful gesture, which restores dignity and visibility to the rural world and to the female figure: it speaks of roots, simple everyday moments that become poetry, a silent hymn to the strength of our land.
Today 2 works by the Master previously located inside Palazzo Marini (seat of the Municipality) can be enjoyed by walking in the historic center: “Girl with a book” in Via XX Settembre and “Woman milking the goat” in Piazza della Repubblica.
The movement of the works takes place in agreement with the Fioravanti family with the idea of enhancing them and making the use of the works accessible to a wider audience and embellishing the historic city center, enriching the intrinsic artistic and poetic meaning of the statues.
If you want to “immerse” yourself in his art, we recommend visiting “La casa dell’Upopa” in Sorrivoli, the studio where Ilario created his works, now a museum.
