At 379 meters above sea level, Sogliano al Rubicone enjoys breathtaking views, lying on enchanting hills located between the Apennines and the Romagna Riviera, in 2009 it received by decree the title of “City,” an honor that the President of the Republic can’exceptionally grant to ” Municipalities distinguished for their memories, historical monuments and current importance.”.
The Old Town is a place steeped in art, nature and ancient flavors.
Art connoisseurs come to visit the interesting museums and unique architectural works; nature lovers come to our area attracted by the many hiking trails, which can be used on foot, mountain bike or horseback; some prefer to follow the religious itineraries and still others are in search of the gastronomic delicacies for which Sogliano al Rubicone is known.
So many typical Romagnoli products originate in our area, the most famous being Fossa cheese (a specialty that received PDO certification in 2009), accompanied by saba, savor, honey, piadina, meats, truffles, mushrooms, ancient grains, and cherries.
The Sogliano al Rubicone area is now a point of attraction for hikers, trekking enthusiasts and bicycle tourists from all over Italy and Europe.
There are several routes established for trekkers and cyclists and, bordering the old town “la cioca” with its 18 hairpin bends, dear to Marco Pantani and called “the pirate’s climb” at the end of which there is a monument in his honor where many cyclists take a souvenir photo of their passage.
