The quartet offers a fresh and dynamic reinterpretation of some of the most iconic songs from Duke Ellington’s output, with original arrangements that do not fail to pay homage to the most exquisitely Ellingtonian stylistic traits. The music unfolds in a multifaceted journey: from the characteristic sound images of dreamy, wild worlds to the more introspective ballads, while with the irony that always distinguished him Ellington reminds us, that after all, in life … “nothing counts if you don’t have that swing!” The songs in this concert are excerpts from the In my Ellington mood recording project, fresh from release on the Notami Jazz Records label.
