The lecture-performance, inspired by his latest publication, brings to light more than ten years of Alessandro Bergonzoni’s research from the pages of “Venerdì di Repubblica”: ideas, questions, déjà-vu, babelic lists, and reiterations that encompass and transcend current events, and allow us to discover the universes – comic, mad, intimate, political and social – of the author. With the unmistakable style that leaves neither respite nor rest to the viewer, continually challenged to delve into the infinite potential of the mind, Bergonzoni dialectically addresses what we are too often instead inclined to ignore, remove and not want to know. The result is an anthological collection capable of ranging between different registers and tones, to take us on a journey through the thousands of souls, often unknown, of this multifaceted artist. Alessandro Bergonzoni (Bologna 1958) is a theater artist, author and actor. He has written and performed several shows, with which he has won major Italian awards. In cinema he has participated in Roberto Benigni’s Pinocchio and Mimmo Paladino’s Quijote. He has collaborated with Radio2 and Radio3 Rai and with major newspapers. He currently writes for “il Venerdì di Repubblica” and “Robinson.” He has been exhibiting his artistic production in Italian galleries and museums since 2005, also creating site-specific performances. His books include: Le Balene restino sedute (Palme D’Oro 1990 in Bordighera), Il grande fermo e i suoi piccoli andirivieni, Silences, Opplero – Storia di un salto, Non ardo dal desiderio di diventare uomo finché posso essere anche donna bambino animale o cosa, Bastasse grondare, Nel, L’amorte.
With Notturni nel Bosco (Nocturnes in the Woods ), Sogliano’s theatrical activity moves to wooded places, along nature trails, on the evening’s doings. An activity that intends to combine theater and natural landscape in extemporaneous places of great charm, where the performance is immersed in nature, creating a strong suggestion: artists and spectators immersed in nature and in the silence of the woods. Performances of theatrical storytelling or in music, for a heterogeneous audience with a ritual prelude: in fact, spectators are invited to give themselves a rendezvous at an established meeting place, from which then at dusk they leave for a short walk through the natural paths of the Sogliano landscape to reach the performance venue. Over the years we have learned to “carefully digress” around the theme of theatrical storytelling: for us theater is what happens in the place where artists and spectators gather together. We have built and consolidated theatrical activity in its traditional place: the E. Turroni. But over the years we have also promoted and brought theater to more informal places: Sogliano and its natural landscape as a diffuse theater. Our proposal tends to promote live performance in the places of the natural landscape of the Sogliano area. In each case, the overall context is rural and vegetal in nature, both for the short walk (with the help of GAE guides when required) and for the performance venue.
